Parmesan Risotto Recipe

 Classic Parmesan Risotto Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups Arborio rice
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth, kept warm
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Ingredients:
    • Finely chop the onion, mince the garlic, and grate the Parmesan cheese. Have the broth warmed in a separate pot.
  2. Sauté Onions and Garlic:
    • In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  3. Toast the Rice:
    • Add the Arborio rice to the pan and cook, stirring constantly, until the rice is lightly toasted. This step enhances the nutty flavor of the rice.
  4. Deglaze with Wine:
    • Pour in the dry white wine and stir until it's mostly absorbed by the rice. This adds a layer of acidity and depth to the dish.
  5. Start Adding Broth:
    • Begin adding the warm broth one ladle at a time, stirring continuously. Allow each ladle of broth to be absorbed before adding the next. Continue this process until the rice is cooked to al dente, usually about 18-20 minutes.
  6. Finish with Parmesan and Butter:
    • Once the rice is cooked to your liking, stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and butter. This will create a creamy and rich consistency.
  7. Season and Garnish:
    • Season the risotto with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a burst of freshness.
  8. Serve Immediately:
    • Risotto is best enjoyed immediately while it's creamy and hot. Spoon it onto plates or into bowls, and optionally, sprinkle additional Parmesan on top.
  9. Optional Variations:
    • Feel free to customize your risotto by adding sautéed mushrooms, asparagus, or cooked shrimp for added flavor and texture.
  10. Enjoy!
    • Savor the rich and creamy goodness of your homemade Parmesan risotto. Pair it with a glass of your favorite wine for a delightful dining experience.

This classic Parmesan risotto is a versatile dish that can stand alone or complement a variety of main courses. Enjoy the process of making this comforting Italian favorite in your own kitchen!
